Welcome to martinschweitzer.com
It has been about 5 years since I last worked on my home page. I decided to give it a makeover and so downloaded the Localise template from OSWD and worked with that.
There have been a number of projects that I have been meaning to undertake, so hopefully I will now find the time.
In the meantime, sit back and relax with a game. Here are some games that I have written that haven't made it to the games page.
Square Game This game is based on a paper by Garsach. To understand how the game works, you really should click on the link at the top of the game and read the 17x17 challenge (which, incidentally, has recently been solved). It was my first experiment using HTML5 and Canvas - and I am quite pleased with the result.
Lights This was my second experiment with HTML5 and Canvas. Once again, a simple game. The aim was to see how far I could go without using any bitmap images (e.g. jpeg, gif or png). I think it works quite well.
Animated Cyclone Track I was experimenting with an excellent mapping tool called GMT (Generic Mapping Tools). These are implemented as UNIX command line scripts. The native output is Postscript. The animation was created using scripts to read the data from a database, render the maps (in Postscript), convert to gifs and finally convert the gifs to an animated gif.
Lightning Animation This was created by interrogating a database and using Python Heatmaps to render the images. Once again, I used ImageMagick to create the animation.
GREB Climate Model I worked with Dietmar Dommentget on this program. Dietmar wrote a very simple climate model and I created the web front end to allow users to visualise the output of the model.
My Blog Where I have been writing a lot about Python related things. I have a few updates that I have not yet posted, mostly because I have been experimenting with other blogging platforms.
